Last week I talked about the evil chemical glyphosate, and how detrimental it can be to our health. We talked about ways to test for it to evaluate our load in the body. Today I’m going to give you two ways to detoxify glyphosate from the body. To recap, glyphosate is the chemical found in the herbicide Round-Up, as well as being in over 700 products ranging from herbicides to household products. It can have many adverse effects on the health of one’s body, and may be a contributor to chronic health concerns including autism-spectrum disorders. [Read more…]
You might know glyphosate better as the chemical in the product RoundUp. Glyphosate is the world’s most widely produced herbicide – it was introduced in the 1970’s to kill weeds and has been widely used since then. In fact, glyphosate has been so widely used that many weeds and crops became resistant to it. Guess what Monsanto did then? They produced a genetically-modified glyphosate-resistant crops such as soy and corn that can grow even in the presence of the toxic chemical – what a smart business move for them. Glyphosate is now found in more than 700 different products, ranging from herbicides to household products. But what about the connection between glyphosate toxin and your health? Glyphosate is pretty evil all around; and in chronic health conditions where toxic load plays a significant role (which is about all of them) it might be worth investigating.
Baths can be a great therapeutic tool to enhance your health regimen, along with being relaxing and rejuvenating. The effect you get will depend largely on what you put in them. The following healthy additions to your bath take it from a nice, relaxing soak to a significant health modality! My favorite is Epsom salts, for reasons you’ll read in a minute, but there are other possibilities too, that may even be better in certain circumstances.
We know how important detoxification is for the body – it helps us to stay healthy, energized and keep our mental alertness at the best possible level. But detoxification is only really helpful if we have good elimination too – not only do we want to convert toxins to a less harmful form, we also want to make sure they’re leaving the body. It’s important to understand the difference between detoxification and elimination to make sure both things are being well supported. [Read more…]
Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, aluminum and cadmium can be very harmful to the body. I see it frequently in my patients. So in my own ongoing habit of checking my metals, adrenals, thyroid etc., I did my own heavy metal labs to make sure my sushi habit wasn’t creeping my mercury up. I was shocked at what I saw. Mercury was a bit high, but my lead level was 19 (it should be less than 2), and my bismuth was 54 (it should be less than 4). Wheweeeee, it’s time to physician heal thyself! I’m designing a protocol for myself, and thought I’d share some ideas about how to detox lead from the body in case any of you are in the same boat!
Heavy metal toxicity is an issue that exists alongside many other health conditions and diagnoses. Many of my autistic-spectrum patients have heavy metal toxicity, many of my Lyme disease patients have heavy metal toxicity, but I would bet that many people without any official diagnosis have high levels of heavy metals in their bodies that may be affecting their neurological function. With the pollution surrounding us today, heavy metals are a part of the environment. Reversing heavy metal toxicity can provide a massive boost in one’s overall health levels.
A while back I wrote about the AMD IonCleanse – a type of ionic footbath that primarily functions as a detox tool. We have seen great results with the footbath in our patients at RestorMedicine, and I have been fortunate to have heard numerous other stories of ioncleanse footbath success from my readers too. Dave Borden is one such reader. He is a father of a child on the autism spectrum, and has been using the IonCleanse for several months with his son. Dave has a website called I’m Simply a Dad. Today he shares with us his experience of incorporating IonCleanse into his son’s health regimen.
I get a lot of liquid nutrition in the morning – in fact, I’ve downed three shots before I even get to my coffee! I have developed my three morning energy boost drinks over the months, and now it’s part of my regimen, I miss it when I don’t have them. There are times that I might skip them on the weekends, but every day during the week I take all three, without fail. It takes about 15 minutes, mostly because I allow a little time in between, and I just putz around putting the strewn toys away, packing the school bag etc etc in between steps. So what are they? Let me tell you.
No one likes a smelly, grimy kitchen – but many of the traditional cleaners are full of harsh chemicals and fake fragrances, all which can be highly toxic. Here are some ways to spruce your kitchen up with essential oils. They make great cleaning agents, and leave a natural, fresh scent. [Read more…]
The skin is the largest organ of the body and is responsible for a significant amount of the body’s elimination processes (approximately one quarter each day). The skin and the lungs are often forgotten when we discuss detoxification, with the liver and kidneys receiving most of the attention. Granted, most medications clear through the liver and/or kidneys, however the skin, with its porous structure and vast surface area, should not be forgotten. Dry skin brushing is a great detoxification helper and can be done in just a few minutes a day at home. [Read more…]
