Heavy metal toxicity is an issue that exists alongside many other health conditions and diagnoses. Many of my autistic-spectrum patients have heavy metal toxicity, many of my Lyme disease patients have heavy metal toxicity, but I would bet that many people without any official diagnosis have high levels of heavy metals in their bodies that may be affecting their neurological function. With the pollution surrounding us today, heavy metals are a part of the environment. Reversing heavy metal toxicity can provide a massive boost in one’s overall health levels.
A while back I wrote about the AMD IonCleanse – a type of ionic footbath that primarily functions as a detox tool. We have seen great results with the footbath in our patients at RestorMedicine, and I have been fortunate to have heard numerous other stories of ioncleanse footbath success from my readers too. Dave Borden is one such reader. He is a father of a child on the autism spectrum, and has been using the IonCleanse for several months with his son. Dave has a website called I’m Simply a Dad. Today he shares with us his experience of incorporating IonCleanse into his son’s health regimen.
I get a lot of liquid nutrition in the morning – in fact, I’ve downed three shots before I even get to my coffee! I have developed my three morning energy boost drinks over the months, and now it’s part of my regimen, I miss it when I don’t have them. There are times that I might skip them on the weekends, but every day during the week I take all three, without fail. It takes about 15 minutes, mostly because I allow a little time in between, and I just putz around putting the strewn toys away, packing the school bag etc etc in between steps. So what are they? Let me tell you.
No one likes a smelly, grimy kitchen – but many of the traditional cleaners are full of harsh chemicals and fake fragrances, all which can be highly toxic. Here are some ways to spruce your kitchen up with essential oils. They make great cleaning agents, and leave a natural, fresh scent. [Read more…]
The skin is the largest organ of the body and is responsible for a significant amount of the body’s elimination processes (approximately one quarter each day). The skin and the lungs are often forgotten when we discuss detoxification, with the liver and kidneys receiving most of the attention. Granted, most medications clear through the liver and/or kidneys, however the skin, with its porous structure and vast surface area, should not be forgotten. Dry skin brushing is a great detoxification helper and can be done in just a few minutes a day at home. [Read more…]
Castor oil is a thick oil that comes from the seed or beans of the Ricinus communis plant. Taken orally, castor oil is a strong purgative, meaning it will get your bowels moving. Some people use it as a solution for constipation, but there are many other safer, more effective ways. Others use it to try to get labor going – I was in that camp once-upon-a-time because at 42 weeks gestation it was that or induction, so I went for the castor oil. But I can tell you from experience that its pretty gross, it causes a lot of cramping, and I just wouldn’t recommend taking it that way if you can help it! What I do recommend though, is castor oil packs for your liver. They’re safe, effective, inexpensive and can help with liver detoxification, lymphatic cleansing and immune function. [Read more…]
Molybdenum is a trace mineral that serves mainly as an essential cofactor of enzymes, and aids in the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. It also helps facilitate the breakdown of certain amino acids in the body. But one of the best benefits of molybdenum is as detoxification helper, especially in the case of Candida overgrowth. I have come across ionic detox foot baths many times over my years in the health field, and have always been a skeptical. It seemed kinda hokey and I was unsure if it was just a fad or a legitimate tool. I thought maybe any benefit was just a placebo effect. But I have seen enough good results now to be a believer – good results in children, good results in patients who were not responding to any other therapy, not-so-much-fun detox reactions and other indicators that indeed, things are happening. In ionic footbath: hoax or helper? hopefully you’ll get a better understanding of this tool and you may decide to utilize it yourself for your own health care.
There are several reasons that one might think about hormone detox. Certainly for me right now coming off over a year of hormones and fertility meds, it’s a must. But women may also want to consider it if they have imbalances such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), estrogen dominance, perimenopause or menopause. Oh yeah and then there’s postpartum hormone rebalancing too. Just a short list of possibilities! Following are some of the key things that I would look at when trying to detoxify hormones.
Amalgam fillings (the silver-colored fillings that are used to fill dental cavities) are definitely something that can compromise our health. They are a source of mercury, which can leach into the body for many years after they were put in place. I have seen many people’s health improve when they had their amalgam fillings taken out – headaches, foggy brain, fatigue, insomnia, joint pain, muscle aches and other neurological issues have all improved and even resolved in some of the patients I’ve seen. There are a few things you can do in terms of supporting amalgam filling removal though, to protect the body from escaping toxins, and support its detox capabilities:-
